Some of this information might be considered objectionable for all or a specific category for example porn content must not be allowed for children or you might be worried about your kids spending too much time on social media websites.

So due to these reasons you may want to block websites on your computer. There are several methods to block websites on your computer.

You can use a feature in your browser to block a website or you can use a software to block websites. The third option is that you can use a firewall to block websites.

Some antivirus software also give you the capability to block websites. You can block websites using Internet Explorer.

To block a website using Internet Explorer open tools, go to Internet options, click privacy tab, click sites and enter the addresses of websites that you want to block. You can block websites by using the content feature of Internet Explorer.

To block a website using firewall you have to deploy a personal firewall on your computer and then put the websites you want to block in a blacklist category and allow all the others.

Another method to block websites is to do it by your router. Routers are capable of managing a black list and whitelist of websites.

Simply add the addresses of websites that you want to block in a black list and your router will block these websites. To block a website using Firefox you have to download Blocksite add on.

If you are using Google Chrome go to tools, click under the hood, choose change proxy settings then go to security tab and restricted sites. Simply add the addresses of websites you want to block and these websites will be blocked.

Parental control and Internet filtering software are another good set of tools for blocking websites.
